Network Engineering Workshop - Advanced Network Technologies

Objectives :
This workshop will encourage network engineers & NOC staff to work for integrating North American R&E networks, GEANT/Asi@Connect and APAN, especially for international advanced applications. This workshop will focus on advanced network research & engineering projects as well as the updates of APAN member/partner networks, and will help APAN to be one of the advanced research & education networks in the globe.

Agenda :

1.   API for maintenance ticket - Hirotaka Sato

To decrease amount of daily work for network operator is a one of main reason for automating network operation. While much of the automation happen inside the NREN, but automating handling maintenance which is affected by other NREN is a area where collaboration is needed for protocol, formatting, and authentication method etc. I will propose a example of API and our implementation as a reference.

2. TransPAC Update: Guam peerings and Performance Engagement   - Hans Addleman , Indiana University

TransPAC Update featuring EPOC - Hans Addleman and Scott Chevalier Hans and Scott will discuss some of the recent changes to the TransPAC network including enabling the LHCONE network in Hong Kong. We will also take a quick look at some of the Top talkers on the network and discuss a recent engagement with  National Center for Physics (NCP) at the Quaid-i-Azam University Campus in Islamabad, Pakistan. Scott will also talk about the perfSONAR small node workshops that he has been leading.

3. Cyberspace Survey  - Jilong Wang , CERNET Center, Tsinghua University

Nowadays we talk very much about cyberspace, however we never defined the space demention of cyberspace, we even have no a native cyberspace map and always use GIS to visualize cyberspace. This talk will introduce the jobs about cyberspace survey including the definition of native cyberspace coordination and how to get native cyberspace map and even cyberspace GIS on top.

4.  Pacific Wave Next Generation and the Atlantic-Pacific Research & Education Exchange  - Jonah Keough

Pacific Wave is undertaking a significant hardware upgrade in the coming 12 months, and together Pacific Wave and Internet2 are launching a new pilot, the Atlantic-Pacific Research & Education Exchange, with the goal of streamlining connectivity to the US for International R&E networks. As part of the pilot Internet2 and Pacific Wave will seek to coordinate activities between the MANLAN and WIX exchange points on the Eastern coast of the US, and the Seattle, Sunnyvale, and Los Angeles exchange points on the west coast of the US. As a first step in this collaboration an express 100Gbps circuit has been deployed between California and Virginia, interconnecting the Pacific Wave, MANLAN, and WIX exchange points with high-speed, low-latency bandwidth
