Session Chairs: Faridah Mohd Noor, University of MalayaAndrew Howard, National Computational Infrastructure, AustraliaAgenda: 01. Valorisation of Material Culture through Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence - G. Genieve, Abdul Aziz Rashid & Faridah Mohd NoorAn important part of academic research in both Museum studies and Heritage studies focus on community and visitor’s engagement. Many of these research show that for heritage in general and material culture displayed in museum to be valued by the public, they need to be able to engage with it. Yet within the museums themselves, the protection and preservation of material culture often makes it impossible for visitors to interact with the objects on display.
02. Digital Preservation of Malaysian Historical Artifact Using 3D Scanner - Muhammad Asyraf Bin Mhd Pauzi and Khong Chee WengOur culture and heritage is the showcase of our ancestor’s culture and tradition that we inherit. It shows how our forefathers have evolved and what they have achieved. Around the globe, the use of digital preservation method especially three-dimensional (3D) scanning methods has been a growing trend in the culture and heritage domain. However, it remains foreign to the Malaysian culture and heritage community. The aim of this research is to develop a workflow of 3D scanning for the digital preservation of local culture and heritage artefacts.
03. Music Therapy in Virtual Reality: Delivering Online Group Music Therapy Sessions for People with Quadriplegia - Ben LoveridgePeople with quadriplegia are disproportionately rurally and regionally located, at high risk for social isolation, and face numerous barriers to accessing music therapy (MT). They also face significant risk of illness due to paralysis of the primary breathing muscles. Our previous research demonstrated that face-to-face group singing therapy improves breathing, voice, mood, and social connectedness for people with quadriplegia. However, latency issues make online live group singing impossible via current videoconferencing options.
