Objectives: This meeting will start with discussions on advanced federation topics to seed ideas for blossoming federations to aspire for. This will include presentations on the following topics;
- Advanced options for service providers
- Federations and HPC advances occurring is Australia
Federation will be given the opportunity to deep dive into their current plans, issues and road blocks discussing options with other federation operators from within the APAN region and global experts. Areas that will be covered will include but not be limited to;
- Data/Business Analytic
- Growth and sustainability of a national identity federation
Session Chairs: Terry Smith, Australian Access FederationAgenda:01. Using LXC - Mukhammad Andri SetiawanDeploying back-end that run access federation systems can be cumbersome to many sysadmins, especially those who are not so familiar with the systems themselves. Sysadmin needs to do lots of installations, trials and also errors, and quite often needs to rebuild the systems from the scratch again and again. Even though the systems run on a virtualized machine, still, to deploy and to rebuild the systems will take a lot of time. Even just to reboot the machine itself will take at least two or three minutes. Linux containers (LXC) aim to create a virtualized container that offers an environment as close as possible to a fully virtualized machine without the overhead of having separate kernel and hardware emulation. This means the instances to serve the access federation can be deployed and managed quickly and efficiently. As an illustration of how quick it is, it only takes less than a minute to build a machine and to reboot a machine in LXC only took between four to five seconds.
02. Round Table Discussion - Terry Smith, Australian Access FederationWhat deployment options are in use by your federation that ensure the availability of your federation infrastructure?
