Objectives :The specific objective of Asi@Connect is to provide and further develop a dedicated regional high capacity, high quality Internet connectivity network for research and higher education, also leveraging the e-infrastructure developed for public service projects. The main expected result is the establishment of a dedicated regional Internet network of at least 10Gbps for use primarily by the universities and higher education institutions who are members of national research and education networks (NRENs) in Asia, connecting them with Europe and globally.
Agenda :1. MOU Signing Ceremony -
Francis Lee , SingAREN Fast and Stable Network Ring between Asia and Europe for research and education.
The Eight(8) R&E network institutions, AARNet (Australia), GÉANT (Europe), NICT(Japan), NII(Japan), NORDUnet (European Nordics), SingAREN (Singapore), SURF (The Netherlands) and TEIN*CC (Asia-Pacific), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) today at the 6th Asi@Connect Project Meeting in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The MOU is for the collaboration to run a resilient 100 gigabit per second network between Asia and Europe. The MOU partners agreed to participate with their own 100Gbps link in a resilient system, called Asiapacific-Europe Ring (AER). In case one links in the ring breaks traffic between Europe and Asia will be transported over the other link.
